Experienced Defense Team
The scope and difficulty associated with defending drug and medical device claims makes it essential to employ a legal team with the necessary resources, technology, and personnel to bring those claims to successful resolution. For more than three decades, the attorneys at Lewis Wagner have represented a wide range of clients in product liability lawsuits and multi-district mass tort litigation, with a particular emphasis on drug and medical device cases. Our attorneys have compiled a substantial arsenal of tools and information – including legal briefs, expert witness testimony, and document management software and expertise – to successfully manage the defense of the most complicated product liability cases.
Lewis Wagner attorneys have been heavily involved in representing pharmaceutical companies and medical device manufacturers for more than thirty years. In the 1990s, Lewis Wagner served as local co-defense counsel in hundreds of lawsuits involving Dow Chemical’s silicone breast implants. From 1995 to 2000, Lewis Wagner represented Medtronic Sofamor Danek, Inc. as local counsel with respect to its Indiana orthopedic bone screw litigation, winning several summary judgment awards which contributed to an economical resolution of the MDL claims. Lewis Wagner attorneys also served on the defense team for blood plasma product manufacturers in Indiana’s AIDS/hemophiliac litigation. Lewis Wagner defended a key defendant in nationwide pain pump litigation. Some of the other products we have defended in the life sciences arena include:
