Lewis Wagner Becomes Lewis Wagner & Trimble, in Honor of Legal Luminary John C. Trimble

Indianapolis, IN – May 1, 2025 – Lewis Wagner is proud to announce its rebrand to Lewis Wagner & Trimble, recognizing the extraordinary contributions of Partner John C. Trimble, one of Indiana’s most respected attorneys, legal strategists, and mediators.

This change reflects the firm’s enduring legacy and forward-thinking vision. Since its founding 70 years ago, Lewis Wagner has been synonymous with excellence in litigation and dispute resolution. Founding Partners Edward D. Lewis and Robert F. Wagner built a foundation of professionalism, integrity, inclusion, and client commitment. Over the past four decades, Trimble’s leadership has elevated the firm’s national reputation, expanded its reach, and reinforced its core values.

“John embodies everything our firm has stood for over the past 70 years—excellence, integrity, and service,” said Managing Partner Dina Cox. “His leadership has shaped who we are today, and adding his name to ours is a reflection of the impact he’s had on our firm, our clients, and the legal profession.”

A renowned mediator and legal problem solver, Trimble is frequently called upon for complex cases involving catastrophic injury, insurance coverage, and professional liability. He has pro hac vice admissions in over 35 jurisdictions, and he is a trusted local counsel for national firms. His contributions to the legal field have earned him numerous accolades, including:

  • Indiana Super Lawyers’ #1 ranking for a decade
  • The Louis B. Potter Lifetime Professional Service Award (2021)
  • The Indianapolis Bar Foundation’s prestigious Luminary Award (2023)
  • The Sagamore of the Wabash (2024), Indiana’s highest civilian honor, awarded by the Governor for distinguished service to the state.

Beyond the courtroom, Trimble is a tireless advocate for the legal profession. A past president of the Indianapolis Bar Association, former leader of the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana, member of the Armadillo Club, and Chair of DRI’s Judicial Task Force, he has shaped national legal policy and mentored countless attorneys. His commitment to bar association involvement, civility, and mentorship has left an indelible mark on the profession.

Founding Partner Robert Wagner added: “I’m excited and proud to see the firm’s name evolve to include John Trimble. I can’t think of anyone else who has contributed more to the success and national reputation of the firm than John.”

As Lewis Wagner & Trimble, the firm remains dedicated to its mission: delivering exceptional legal counsel, fostering a culture of integrity, and shaping the next generation of legal professionals.

Those of you who know John Trimble will not be surprised that while he is honored by the firm’s decision, he will still say his greatest accomplishment in life is his enduring marriage to the love of his life, Ann, and the accomplishments of his family.
