Our unique approach inspires imaginative and practical solutions for clients and utilizes traits all too rare today – common sense, and accountability.

Diversity & Inclusion

Dedicated to Diversity, Inclusion, Equity,
Excellence & Meritocracy

Since its inception, the law firm of Lewis Wagner & Trimble has been committed to diversity and inclusion. Diversity is one of our founding principles and an integral part of our firm culture.  We are proud that our firm’s story begins with being one of the first racially-integrated law firms in Indianapolis. Our commitment to diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace continues to be a priority in the firm’s culture.

Since 1955

Robert F. Wagner and Edward D. Lewis founded Lewis Wagner & Trimble with a vision for an inclusive law firm focused on leveraging practical solutions, common sense, and accountability to exceed client expectations. 70 years later, that same vision guides us in all that we do.

As the firm grew, so did its legacy—shaped in large part by John C. Trimble’s four decades of leadership, generosity, and national influence in the legal profession. To reflect his lasting impact, our firm rebranded in 2025—becoming Lewis Wagner & Trimble, a name that reflects both our history and our continued commitment to excellence, integrity, and client service.

Our Commitment to Inclusion and Opportunity

Since its founding, Lewis Wagner & Trimble has been dedicated to building a welcoming and respectful workplace. We believe that valuing differences in individual perspectives, professional experiences, and personal journeys strengthens both our firm and the service we provide to clients.

From the very beginning, our firm has sought to create an environment where every team member has the opportunity to contribute fully and thrive professionally. We know that a broad range of viewpoints and lived experiences leads to greater innovation, stronger advocacy, and more rewarding client relationships.

Our efforts to foster inclusion are supported by our DIEM Committee that brings together attorneys, paralegals, and staff members to focus on professional development, mentorship, education, and community engagement. Because we believe that the strength of our firm comes from embracing diverse perspectives, ensuring equitable treatment, promoting inclusive practices, recognizing excellence, and fostering a culture where merit drives success, our DIEM committee is dedicated to:

  • Attracting and retaining talent with varied perspectives and experiences, ensuring our firm reflects the richness of the community we serve
  • Supporting efforts that cultivate a respectful and inclusive environment, welcoming individuals from all backgrounds
  • Advancing equitable opportunities as well as celebrating excellence in growth, development, and leadership across the firm
  • Encouraging innovation and excellence by recognizing and rewarding merit in all its forms
  • Facilitating ongoing education, dialogue, and initiatives that enrich our culture and client service
  • Fostering active participation in community initiatives and professional organizations that share our commitment diversity, inclusion, equity, excellence, and meritocracy

Inspired by the timeless call to “Carpe Diem,” the DIEM Committee encourages seizing every opportunity to foster an environment where all voices contribute to the firm’s success and where talent and achievement flourish.

At LW&T, Let’s Work Together™ to create a workplace where everyone is empowered to realize their potential and contribute to the enduring excellence of the firm, and where inclusion is not just an ideal but is a practice that benefits our clients, our colleagues, and our community.

Our Commitment to Social Justice and Equality

As a group of civil lawyers committed to social justice and equality, Lewis Wagner & Trimble firmly believes that all people deserve respect, dignity, and self-determination.
